Not long after the announcement of Islam in Arabian Peninsula by Prophet Muhammad, it is
witnessed that the culture, civilization and art of this new religion started to originate and develop
rapidly in a considerably wide area. When development period of this culture/civilization/ art is
looked over, it is observed that Islamic arts has originated and formed via the influence of some
principal factors. The factors arising from Islam such as Kalam (Science of Discourse), Figh (Islamic
Jurisprudence) and Sufism (Islamic Mysticism) has been determining factors in development
of art besides climate and geographical conditions, communication with neighbours and old civilizations,
national/regional and individual sense of aesthetics and technological developments. On
the other hand, man-woman relationships inside family or outside, within society has been arranged
within the scope of privacy rules determined by Islam religion. Moreover, it can be said that the
concept of privacy which would be evaluated within the frame of Figh (Islamic Jurisprudence) is
one of the significant factors that has affected art, architecture and culture. The Islamic City and
its contents such as mosques, madrasas, khanqas/zawiyas/dargahs (Islamic Monasteries), lodgings
/dervish lodges/ caravanserais, ribats (border posts), castles, houses and palaces are the architectural
examples of this concept.

Restitute Proposal of Kâmil Furtun Mansion in Ordu/Altınordu

Housing, where the most basic needs of human life are met, is also an important reality for the
privacy of the family living in them. Societies have created housing spaces that differ from each
other at certain points or are similar to each other with the possibilities such as environmental
conditions, climatic characteristics and material options. These structures, which also appear as
dynamics that illuminate the history of the place and the traditions of the society, have been shaped
in some ways by the sociological conditions as well as the status and economic state of the
people who use them. Although common views and aesthetic orientations in the society have
also influenced the houses in terms of some of their characteristics, a common architectural order
prevails in these buildings in general. In this paper, the Kâmil Furtun Mansion in the Altınordu
district of Ordu, which is thought to have been constructed within the traditional housing
texture of the XIXth century and created in the above-mentioned architectural environment, has
been evaluated in terms of plan, architecture, decoration and materials and construction technique
based on its current state and period photographs of different dates. A restitution proposal
has been made based on the documents and oral sources of the building dated to the XIXth century
due to its architectural character determined from the old photographs, in which only the
basement and ground floor body walls, the side space used as laundry and kitchen, and the wet
volumes added to the west wall have survived as a result of a fire in 2006. This is because, considering
the historical sources, archival documents and oral sources, as well as the historical urban
fabric of Ordu, the restoration of Kamil Furtun Mansion will be a result of our duty as a bridge
between the past and the future.

Diwan Lughat al-Turk, written by Mahmud Kashgari in the XIth cen-tury and one of the important
works of Turkish culture, is the first known dic-tionary of Turkish. The subject of this
study, which we prepared based on this valuable work that provides very important information
about the Turks in political, social, economic and cultural aspects, is the kitchen utensils used in
the Turkish geography in the XIth century. In the XIth century, one room of a Turkish house
was used as a kitchen and this room was called “aşlık”, mea-ning "soup house". In order to reflect
the cultural life of the period and to ha-ve information about the daily life of the Turks, it is
necessary to recognize the cultural objects in Turkish cuisine. In the study prepared for this purpose,
the translations of the work prepared by Besim Atalay and Ahmet B. Ercila-sun-Ziyat Akkoyunlu
were used. In addition, the English translation prepared by Rifat Bilge of Kilisli and the
English translation prepared by R. Dankoff and J. Kelly have been consulted in some points of
dispute.

Craft is the busyness or occopation of individuals in various professional fields according to their
abilities. In general terms, it can be defined as a style of activity with its own rules that determines
the social status of individuals and requires professional skills. It is known that the majority of
people engage in a professional activity at some point in their lives or throughout their lives. Professions
are of great importance for individuals and society. One of the most important factors
that ensure the interaction between individuals and society is professions. in this context The
discovery and exploitation of various mines in the Black Sea region, especially around Ordu, Ünye,
Fatsa and Canik, has contributed to the emergence of many crafts. Coppersmithing, blacksmithing
and jewelery crafts have developed in the regions where minerals are extracted. he basis
of our work consists of professionals engaged in mining craft. In this sense, an attempt was made
to examine the Curüfcuyan group, which were representatives of the coppersmith profession in
the 19th century in Fatsa District of Canik Sanjak.

Since the earliest times, the Turks would sometimes resort to trickery while establishing armies
and developing war tactics to gain an advantage over the enemy in order to defend their homeland
against attacks or to expand their homeland. İn this context, it is known that the Hun Emperor
Mete carried out this in a more organized manner and established the first regular army
according to the 10-unit system. İn addition, it is possible to see information about the regular
units of the Turks, the art of war and tactics in the Orhun monuments. As for the Seljuks, they
also carried out many military activities in their wars; they successfully carried out military maneuvers
such as raids, surprise raids, false retreats and ambushes aimed at wearing down and intimidating
the enemy. Indeed, since the Anatolian Turkish lords had both Turkish military culture
and were the carriers of the military traditions of the Seljuks of Turkey, they arranged their army
formations accordingly; they implemented many military tricks and tactics in their campaigns and
wars, sometimes interpreting them according to their own interpretations. Tactics applied according
to the type of war, the psychological state of the armies, climatic conditions, geographical
conditions, war equipment, the point where the army was positioned, how the army was positioned,
the courage of the commander and the army, the foresight of the commander, the psychological
and physiological state of the army, and many other elements played a decisive role in the
outcome of the war. When Turkish lords and their emirs were to organize a campaign, preparations
would begin days or even months in advance. These preparations consisted of activities such
as recognizing, controlling, wearing out the enemy, and determining the direction of the war.
They would always take into consideration such elements that could determine the fate of the war
before and during the war, and determine the war order and tactics according to these elements.
Since the war had a dynamic and complex structure and it was not known for sure how the
enemy would move, the army order and tactics determined before the war could sometimes
change during the war. Siege war techniques, which the Turks coming from the steppe had to
learn in a short time due to the structure of the Anatolian geography equipped with castles, were
also effectively used by the Seljuks of Rum. After entering Anatolia, the Turks focused on siege
warfare. İn this war technique, which dates back to ancient times, they developed different tactics
over time according to the situation of the place they besieged and the defensive measures taken
by the enemy.
